Deva and Miten met in India in 1990 at the Ashram of their Guru, Osho and soon they began a journey into love and creativity that has taken their inspiring blend of song, mantra and meditation to a worldwide audience.
Deva Premal started listening mantras in his mother’s womb. He always considered this music as a part of his life. He met the teachings of Osho at the age of 11 and he was 20 when visiting Osho’s ashram.
Miten was raised in London, he worked as a musician composing songs to others. He later abandoned music, and left for India where he became an active member in the Osho community. Deva and Miten met here and later published several albums. Even tough there is a 22 years difference between them, they feel that they belong together. They laugh, play music together, changing each other for the better. Without Miten Deva would not have had the courage to sing.
One of the most important song is Gayatri Mantra, which was sung by his Mother when he was a child.
Soon the album „Essence” came out. What really wonderful in their music is: silence. They claim that they play music for the silence between tracks. This gives sense to it all. Silene in the music helps in healing and fixing the soul. It is understandable that they have fans like Cher, who used to sing Gayatri Mantra herself.
