Tarot Card Reading

The Minor Arcana consists of 56 cards and is traditionally divided into four parts, according to the so-called ‘colours’ or suits. These four suits are Pentacles (or Coins), Wands, Swords and Cups (or Chalices), which each have 14 cards with each card containing different figures. We continue the study of the suit of Wands with the court cards (page, knight, queen and king).

We have learned about the 22 cards of the Major Arcana. These 22 cards represent the paths of a human life. They are representations and symbols of different stages of human life, life cycles which lead from the beginning to the pinnacle, the fulfilment.

The card shows a dancing figure framed in a wreath. This dancing figure represents the physical world which is floating in the universe represented by the wreath. The infinite universe has an impact on our physical world and influences the outcome of earthly events.

‘The messenger of God’ gets the lead role, God’s voice reaches people via his trumpet as a last warning sign to wake up and become enlightened. The symbolic meaning of the card is in accord with the principal of “you reap what you sow”.

The sun represents light, it penetrates everywhere, even into the deepest darkness. Its tremendous energy is endless, it shines by its own energy and the sun feeds itself with its own energy.

The moon appears above the melancholic and abandoned landscape in the thickening gloom. In the distance, barely visible, are two abandoned towers. The winding road that starts at the water in the foreground disappears over the distant horizon.
